Victim Support Cover

Income Protection and Carer Support

A family kitchen in the morning light

Recovery and the justice process both take time away from work. This benefit pays a weekly amount to replace lost income where you are unable to work, or where a family member takes leave to care for you. It also funds childcare, in-home domestic assistance and travel to attend police interviews, court hearings and medical appointments.

What is covered

  • Weekly income replacement of up to 75% of your pre-incident earnings, to the benefit cap
  • Carer allowance for a family member who reduces their hours to support you
  • Childcare and after-school care costs
  • Domestic assistance including cleaning, meal preparation and gardening
  • Travel, parking and accommodation to attend court and legal appointments

What is not covered

  • Income already replaced by paid leave, workers compensation or another insurer
  • Any period more than 26 weeks after the first day of absence (13 weeks on Essential)
  • Voluntary redundancy or unrelated unemployment
